Welcome to San Francisco
This is a bit of a native's view on visiting San Francisco. San Franciscan's tend to look upon their city a bit differently than transplants or visitors. (Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is open to discussion.)
We have some local prejudices about certain places or areas, and can wax nostalgically for hours about how great the City was before they tore down Playland and the Fox Theatre, filled in Fleishacker Pool, and closed The Emporium on Market Street.
But a great city doesn't live in the past - it lives in the present with an eye to the future. And that certainly describes San Francisco, today. History abounds, but it's a city firmly planted in the here-and-now. Perpetually young, slightly irresponsible, and thoroughly fun.
There's so much to see and do that no one site could ever hope to list them all, but here are a few of our favorite places...
What To See, What To Do
Everything, of course! From cheesy Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf to the top of Twin Peaks for unparalleled views and out on the Bay on a ferry boat and back to Union Square for shopping.
Golden Gate Park, Haight Street (yawn), Chinatown, Coit Tower, North Beach, the Mission,... There is sooo much to see and do. Check it out...
Where To Eat
Restaurants abound in San Francisco - from the latest celebrity-chef-of-the-minute to neighborhood joints that have been around for generations.
